Project Summary: "Special Guerrilla Unit: A Secret Army for a Secret War" focuses on the Hmong “secret army”, their sacrifices, and the veterans who were recruited by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and fought a clandestine war on behalf of America during the Vietnam War.
This documentary film will retell the narrative of the Vietnam War through personal stories from the soldiers who lived through it and other key stakeholders, and expose the current conditions of the Special Guerrilla Unit (SGU), highlighting the critical issues for surviving SGU veterans such as no official U.S. military recognition, nor benefits for the veterans and their families, who sacrificed their lives and homelands for America.
